Great Advice

Being the new year Healthy living advice is all over the place. Gone are the aisles of presents and sweets in all of the stores. They have been replaced by exercise machines and work out videos. It amazes me how quickly the stores get rid of the December merchandise and bring in January's! First they entice us and fatten us up then they sell us products to satisfy our guilt, it's the american way, right?! Anyway, while browsing the interent I found this article by MSN Health and Fitness. It claims to help you lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I looked through it and it seems to be some sound advice. It gives you details on how to change your eating habits by cutting calories and what kinds of exercises to do. Basically instructing us on how to loose weight the old fasioned way. Here is the link.

Quinoa

Hey all!
Just thought I'd share something I saw on AOL and tried that turned out to be really good. It's called quinoa (pronounced keen-wha) and is actually a seed but is cooked and is used like a grain. It's a little like rice when cooked and is also made into pastas and bread and a bunch of stuff. It is very nutritionally packed AND is a complete protein. It could replace meat in your diet if needed. In ancient days, it was mixed with lard and soldiers carried it as their only food source while marching to battle. Its often called the super grain or mother grain for its nutritional completeness. Its gluten free to boot. Chantile, this would be a good one for you. They make it into pasta like spaghetti and its really good. A little pricier than regular pasta, but I bet you could eat it with out any bad effects. Maybe I will get some and make spaghetti for family night so you can try it. I will make home made sauce so we can control the sodium too. Google it - there's quite a bit of info about it.
Love you guys!! Mom.....aka - Julie.....aka - Grandma Julie

A Great Book

I just got an email from Borders since I'm signed up on the rewards plan. Anyway, they currently have a coupon on their website for 30% off any one item. They have the new "Eat this not that" book. I've hear a lot about it and it's supposed to be really good. I think it is already on sale at $13.97 so I'm not sure if the coupon will work. You could always try. Borders have a TON of fitness books and cook books. They also have some fitness equipment and work out videos so check them out!
P.S. scroll down for instructions on how to create posts and comments.

New Year's Resolutions

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been keeping up on this. I didn't think that anyone was looking at it so I haven't been doing it but I've had some requests so I'm making it my New Year's Resolution to keep it up to date with info and healthy living tips.
Anyway, if you've accepted the email invitation to be an author you can leave your own post. I thought I'd give a litte "tutorial" on how to work the blog. If you are an auther (you accepted the email invite) first you have to sign in, clicke th sign in button in the upper right hand corner, sign in using your blogger account. If you don't have one you can create one then I think I have to reinvite you, not sure. Once you've signed in you can click view blog. in the upper right corner next to your sign in name you'll see "new post" click on that and a screen will come up that looks like an email. Simply type what you want and click publish post. this will put your post on the blog so everone can see it. While typing the post you can add links to websites, pictures, movies, whatever you want. If you only want to make a comment on someone else's post you just click comments under the post and it will to take you to a screen where you can leave a comment. I hope this helps and I hope that I can be good at keeping this up!!
